In 2013, having been an endurance athlete and healthful eater for over 30 years, my life was surprisingly turned upside down in a nano-second when it was learned that I had severe blockages in 3 of my main arteries, and required open heart bypass surgery.
The day after being released from 5 days In the hospital, I vividly remember brushing my teeth at home and literally getting out of breath in doing so. A few weeks before that I had finished an 18 mile training run feeling great, and now I stood in the mirror, thinking that I would never run another step. Clearly a low point in my life.
Perhaps serendipitously, I found Dr. Campanile and went under his care. I credit his skill, guidance, support, and caring manner with allowing me to have an amazingly successful recovery, to the point where 2 years to the date of my surgery, I once again ran the New York city Marathon to celebrate.(at the age of 65!) Perhaps most importantly, he helped me transition once again back to optimism, he has that kind of manner.
Dr Campanile does way more than just treat the symptoms with drugs or to suggest surgery, although he does not hesitate to use either when he feels it is the best option. Rather, he digs deep to investigate what causes a condition in the first place, and offers suggestions on how best to treat and/or reverse that condition through his deep knowledge of effective nutritional and lifestyle adjustments.
I will always be grateful to have a cardiologist such as Dr Campanile to look after me in my post-surgery life. Had I been under his care earlier, I am guessing that my surgery might have been prevented in the first place.
